Supervised Soaring

Supervised Soaring is for pilots who want to:

rent a glider and fly at their own pace, with their own objectives
receive weather and task breifing
have daily flight following and SAR back up
have retrieve assistance available
enjoy the benefits of Glide Omarama Club membership.

Prerequisites for Supervised Soaring

Pilots who want to rent gliders from GlideOmarama must:

complete a GlideOmarama Mountain Soaring course or
have previous Omarama soaring experience or
have completed the GlideOmarama Omarama Area Familiarisation Course
have a valid New Zealand certificate to fly and a current GNZ medical
belong to a GNZ affiliated gliding organisiation which may be GlideOmarama.

Overseas pilots may validate their licence to fly in NZ by succesfully completing the GlideOmarama Omarama Area Familiarisation Course, a Mountain Soaring Course or by obtaining validation at another NZ site.

Visiting pilots must become a full member of GlideOmarama. Membership is included for pilots completing a Mountain Soaring Course in the same season. Discounted membership is available for pilots who are already members of a GNZ affiliated Club.

Fees:

Glide Omarama Club Full Membership NZ$450 per person or $70 per day if less than 7 days.

Discus CS NZ$ 350 per day or NZ $1750 per week
LS4, LS3a NZ$ 300 per day or NZ $ 1500 per week
Jantar Std 2 NZ $250 per day
Hornet, Single Astir NZ$200 per day
Grob 103. NZ$300 per day.
